However you can still jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3G using redsn0w. Here are the instructions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/redsnow.ru\/en\/tag\/redsn0w-0-9-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"slink\" title=\"RedSn0w 0.9.5\" >RedSn0w 0.9.5<\/a>-b5 in our utilities page <strong><noindex><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/redsnow.ru\/utilities\/#RedSn0w\" >here<\/a><\/noindex><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li> Download <a href=\"https:\/\/redsnow.ru\/en\/category\/software\/firmware\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"slink\" title=\"firmware\" >firmware<\/a> images for iOS 4.0 <strong><noindex><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/redsnow.ru\/firmwares\/\" >here<\/a><\/noindex><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Run RedSn0w and point it at the 4.0 IPSW. (Yes \u2013 point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you&#8217;re at 4.0.2). This will also hacktivate your iPhone3G at 4.0.1 if you haven&#8217;t already been activated by iTunes.<\/li>\n<li>If you need a carrier unlock &#8211; install ultrasn0w in Cydia (add repository http:\/\/repo666.ultrasn0w.com).
